Clapham Park Development Share this post Home » Regeneration » The Vision The Vision Metropolitan Thames Valley Housing have been leading the renewal of Clapham Park since the early 2000s. The regeneration is more than just building new homes, its focus has been providing a safe, warm and dry home within an inclusive community – a place that’s filled with green areas to relax, enjoy and play; new spaces to work and shop; a place where people are able to live well and are proud to call home. The Clapham Park vision sets out our key commitments to residents and the community for the next 10 years and beyond. These include: • Over 4,000 new and refurbished homes for sale, retirement living, private rental, shared ownership and affordable rent • At least 50% of homes are affordable housing • Over 4 hectares of high quality open public space, including a 300-metre-long linear park • One of the country’s largest green energy networks providing heat and hot water • Safe streets, pedestrian and cycle routes • A range of new shops, gym and community facilities It’s a journey we’ve been on since 2005 after Metropolitan Thames Valley Housing took over the management of Clapham Park from Lambeth Council. To date, over 1,750 new and refurbished homes have now been completed. On average, 250 quality new homes will be completed year on year over the next decade with our partners Countryside Homes. Green open spaces are a key part of the Clapham Park with over 4 hectares of land, and 2 new public parks dedicated to high quality open space. These spaces are designed to cultivate the human experience and are underpinned by a strong sense of community, where local people can come together to stop, meet and enjoy their surroundings. A new market square and retail premises including supermarket, gym, coffee shops will be providing opportunities for start-ups, local businesses and high street names. Public art is being woven into the Clapham Park landscape, with art celebrating the richness, vibrancy and heritage of the local area, bringing a cultural experience to the doorstep. The Clapham Park Cube is an aspirational community space, co- designed by residents that offers space to come together, learn and enjoy. Alongside the physical development of Clapham Park, activities that support local people into achieving their potential will define how the regeneration is measured. The creation of opportunities for local people to gain access to skills and qualifications, as well as employment across a variety of sectors is central to what we do.
