Black History Month: Diversity, Equality & Inclusion in Construction

21st October 2025, Lambeth Town Hall

On Tuesday 21st October, Vistry Group partnered with Metropolitan Thames Valley Housing (MTVH), Peabody, and BPIC Network to host a powerful Black History Month event focused on Diversity, Equality, and Inclusion (DEI) within the construction industry.

Held at Lambeth Town Hall, the event brought together a wide range of construction companies, industry professionals, and community members to address the under representation of s individuals from the global majority in the built environment sector. Through panel discussions, lived experience sharing, and networking sessions, attendees explored the barriers to entry and progression global majority communities—and identified actionable solutions to drive change.

Local residents had the opportunity to connect directly with employers offering live job openings, graduate schemes, apprenticeships, and work experience placements. The event served not only as a celebration of contributions of those from black and diverse ethnic backgrounds to construction but also as a launchpad for new careers and inclusive growth.

“It was truly inspiring to witness the construction industry unite with local residents in a shared commitment to increasing the  representation of professionals from the global majority. Creating a space where individuals could speak openly, share their lived experiences, and feel genuinely heard was both powerful and deeply humbling. This event marked a meaningful step toward building a more inclusive future for our sector.” – Cherrelle Brown

“Representation isn’t just about visibility—it’s about possibility. At MTVH, we’re proud to stand alongside partners like Vistry, Peabody, Lambeth Council and BPIC Network to create spaces where lived experiences are heard, valued, and used to drive real change. This Black History Month event was a powerful reminder that when we connect communities with opportunity, we unlock potential and help to spark an immeasurable shift in society. It’s through these moments of shared purpose that we build a more inclusive future. It’s a real privilege to play a very small part in something so meaningful”. – Kelly Thomas
